The late Chadwick Boseman puts in an astonishing, award-winning performance in his final film appearance.
Directed by George C, Wolfe, and based on an August Wilson play of the same name, this film revolves around Ma Rainey (Viola Davis) and her band who attempt to record a new album in the blistering heat of 1927 Chicago.
However, tensions rise when overconfident trumpeter Levee Green (Boseman) tries to arrogantly do his own compositions, butting heads with both Ma Rainey and the rest of the backing band.
